What is a healthy gut?

Bacteria reach ten times the number of cells in the entire body around tens of billions. There are 1000 different bacteria in the colon. Prebiotic are a special form of dietary fiber,present in plants and vegetables (asparagus,leeks,yams..),which act as fertilizers for the good bacteria in your gut whereas probiotics are live bacteria in yogurt,dairy products and pills that compete with bad bacteria in your gut to maintain a good regularity,they can be killed depending on heat,acidity or die with time.

It is important to have a high proportion of good bacteria in your gut and according to the psychomicrobiotic science the reason of diseases such as schizophrenia ,inflammation and depression can be a result of a high incidence of bad bacteria in your lower colon.

A diet rich in probiotics and prebiotics has a lot of health benefits such as better regularity, better absorption of vitamins,high energy levels,bone density and loss of appetite.
