There are no specific foods to avoid for people suffering from migraines however there is a list of food that lowers the incidence of inflammation and dehydration, which are the primary sources of headaches.

  • Water is the most powerful tool to prevent dehydration so make sure to drink 1.5 to 2 L a day.
  • Healthy fat are anti-inflammatory such as olive oil and raw nuts.
  • Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin maintain energy in cell, which is hard to achieve in migraine sufferers due to genetic predisposition .It is mostly present in lean beef, wholewheat grains, broccoli and mushrooms.
  • Magnesium is essential for women who suffer from menstrual migraines and is found in: spinach, sweet potatoes, quinoa, sunflower seeds and brown rice.
